Foundation
The Excelsior Springs Health Care Foundation, formed in 1991, manages the Foundation's investments, approves funding for future projects, and assists in fundraising activities for the Medical Center. Because of rising costs, hospitals with vision require the support of a foundation to maintain and advance the quality of care demanded of them. By developing a sound financial base, the foundation purchases equipment essential for the future.

The Foundation hosts a golf tournament in June and the annual foundation dinner and auction in October. Contact Jeanne Buckman at 816-629-2768.

Volunteer Opportunities / Auxiliary

Volunteers, known as Hospice Angels, assist professionals in providing support and care to the Hospice program. Hospice Angels come from all disciplines and backgrounds. Some Hospice Angels sit with the patient to provide relief to caregivers. Some Angels are members of the clergy, offering their services. Other Angels are teachers or retired nurses who come to sit with patients, visit families or speak to groups on behalf of Hospice services at the ESMC. All of our Angels share a common bond. Their bond is a desire to help.

The Auxiliary is active in raising funds to purchase equipment for the Medical Center. Fundraising activities vary from year to year. It operates a gift shop, pictured below, and promotes various fundraising activities throughout the year. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the Medical Center and for the fundraising activities. The Auxiliary has approximately 50 members.

ESMC volunteer Kevin Mercer and Rehabilitation Department Director Christie Marker, pictured right, confer on data entry. Mercer is a student at the University of Northern Colorado in Denver, working toward a certification as a speech-language pathologist. Kevin traveled the 600 miles from Denver to volunteer this past summer to develop skills and experience that will benefit him as a Speech Pathologist.

Pictured at left is Mary Joyce Titus, Auxiliary president and volunteer, with new OB/Venous Doppler equipment purchased for the emergency room by the Auxiliary. Funds are raised through proceeds from the gift shop, pictured below, and raffles, jewelry sales, book sales, and membership dues.
